Family Promise provides emergency shelter and other services to homeless children and their families in the Grand Rapids area. Families in our area are facing a desperate housing crisis due to foreclosure and rising unemployment. Children and their families are the fastest-growing segment of the homeless population. Keeping these families together while they endure this crisis is more important than ever. Family Promise is one of only two local shelters providing a total of 10 openings in Grand Rapids that keep children and their families together.
Each rotation, we need lots of volunteers to help provide dinners and playtime supervision for 2-3 evenings during the week plus help with move-in/setup the beds at the beginning and move beds out and clean up at the end of the week. All volunteers should attend the required one-hour training/orientation session before serving families. Trainings are held throughout the year at East Congregational Church.

The next Family Promise rotation week for St. Stephen is May 31 to June 7, 2020.
