Michigan's Constitution allows the people to initiate legislation through a petition drive. Currently, the Catholic Church, Right to Life of Michigan, and other pro-life individuals are collecting petition signatures to legislation to amend the state's partial-birth abortion ban to include a ban on dismemberment abortion. This approach is needed as the language cannot be vetoed by the governor.
St. Stephen's Pro-Life Committee, partnering with the St. Stephen Knights of Columbus Council #15691, will be hosting a petition drive after every Mass the weekends of August 24 & 25, September 21 & 22, and October 19 & 20.
