New Music Ministry Team for St. Stephen
July 24, 2008
I
am most grateful to Barbara Witham McCargar, a parishioner, for
proposing a Music Ministry Team for our parish for the coming year.
The team will be led and supervised by Barbara, who will also plan the
music for parish liturgies, rehearse and direct the adult choir, train
cantors (of all ages), and rehearse youth in the sacred music of school
Liturgies. She will be forming an advisory committee for parish
music ministry.
Todd Wilkie, graduate of Aquinas, will be the accompanist and office
manager. He will accompany weekend Liturgies, school Liturgies, and be
available for funerals, weddings and other services. His position will
be part time.
Elizabeth Christian, an Aquinas student, will be responsible for
developing a parish Children's Choir that will sing at the Liturgies
once a month beginning later this fall.
Roberta Trahan-Gabriel, an Aquinas student, will be responsible for
developing a parish Handbell Choir, and participate in a weekend Liturgy
once a month beginning later this fall.
Barbara McCargar's proposal was offered to meet the spiritual and musical needs of St. Stephen Parish. This proposal is intended for one year with future possibilities open.
I
am very delighted to announce the acceptance of this Music Ministry
proposal. I look forward to the generosity of the time and musical
talents of many parishioners, vocal and instrumental. May we continue to
be blessed with the very best of sacred and liturgical music that gives
glory and praise to God, and rekindles the full, active and conscious
participation of all the members of St. Stephen parish community at all
our celebrations of the Eucharist.
